The Story of Night Owl Shows

Night Owl Shows began at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016 when founder Dan Clews arrived with little more than a guitar and a suitcase to present six performances of The James Taylor Story at The Space @ Symposium Hall.

What started as a single production quickly grew into something much bigger. Inspired by the unique spirit of the Fringe and its ability to connect artists directly with audiences, Dan returned in 2017 with a vision to create opportunities for talented performers and celebrate the music and stories of iconic artists.

Over the following decade, Night Owl Shows expanded from one show to a diverse roster of productions, presenting thousands of performances across the UK, Australia, the United States and beyond. The company became a regular fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Fringe World Perth, earning more than 30 awards and accolades, including Adelaide Fringe's Weekly Music Award, Perth's Weekly Music Award and Mervyn Stutter's Spirit of the Fringe Award.

Following a chance connection made at the Edinburgh Fringe, Night Owl Shows began touring in the United States, building a network of venues across the country and performing hundreds of shows to audiences nationwide. Today, the company regularly tours internationally, bringing its distinctive blend of live music, storytelling and theatrical performance to audiences around the world.

Since its founding, Night Owl Shows has entertained more than 300,000 audience members worldwide and has helped launch the careers of numerous performers, musicians and creatives.
